Anglicisms in online video games in Spanish and in Czech

The objective of our thesis is to describe the topic of anglicisms in the on-line videogames area used by spanish and czech gamers, which are analysed in the practical part. The thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part includes the definiton of anglicisms, on-line videogames, the issue of anglicisms in this area and also the mechanisms of adaptation in spanish and czech. In the practical part we deal with the analysis of anglicisms from the internet page twitch.com and corpus Araneum Bohemicum Maius and Araneum Hispanicum Maius. After the analysis of every anglicism follows a bilingual glossary and a summary in spanish language.
Comparison of loan words from English in Spanish and Czech in Internet newspaper articles

This thesis is focusing on usage of anglicisms in czech and spanish language in journalism. The first part is concentrated on describing of loan words from other languages and then only on anglicisms. The goal of second part is compare words from czech and spanish journalism articles. The main goal of this thesis is finding out which of these two languages is more used to loan words from english language.
Neologisms in social networks

The presented master´s thesis is focused on the analysis of neologisms that can be found in social networks. The aim of this thesis is to analyse the origin of neologisms with respect to their formal adaptation and onomasiological aspects primarily. The thesis consists of theoretical chapters dealing with neology and onomasiology as well as processes of formal and phonological adaptation. The theoretical knowledge is later applied in the practical part which is comprised of the qualitative and quantitative analysis of formal and onomasiological aspects found in concrete neologisms. The results of such analyses are stated both in the final summary and in the conclusion of this master´s thesis which is followed by Spanish resumé. The master´s thesis is written in Czech.
Do pupils of primary and secondary schools know meaning of newly borrowed anglicisms?

This diploma thesis deals with comprehension of newly borrowed anglicisms into the Czech language. As newly borrowed we considered those which are listed in the dictionaries of neologisms, or have not been included in them yet. The comprehension was tested at primary school pupils and students of lower secondary school. The theoretical part describes ways of enriching vocabulary, especially borrowing from foreign languages. The main research method used in the practical part was a survey. It took place in April 2014 among the pupils of the 6th and 9th classes at one of Prague's primary schools and in corresponding classes at Opava secondary school. The results were related to the sex and age of the respondents and also to the type of school they are attending. We observed increased number of successful responses in closed questions testing the passive comprehension of anglicisms than in the open-ended questions testing the active comprehension of anglicisms. Comparing responses by gender, girls reached higher percentage of successful answers or the successful answers of boys and girls were balanced. Arabian and Persian influence on the development of Hindi

This bachelor thesis deals with the influence of Persian and Arabic languages on Hindi, which is originally an Indo-Aryan language. The first part of this thesis is concerned with the historical context and conditions which led to the infiltration of foreign elements into the North Indian language area. In further parts of the thesis, the linguistic areas in which the most prominent changes occurred as a result of a long-term lingual contact are specified. The emphasis is put mainly on analyses in the field of vocabulary enrichment, especially on the adaptation of extraneous lexical units and lexical hybridisation phenomena. Latinisms in contemporary German language and their lexicographic treatment in a bilingual dictionary

A role of Latinisms in contemporary German language is the subject of this thesis. The thesis has been elaborated on the basis of findings acquired in the course of drafting dictionary entries within a project focused on development of the German-Czech Academic Dictionary. The role of the Latinisms within the German language vocabulary is analysed on the background of a confrontation of entries included in the monolingual dictionary Duden-Deutsches Universalwörterbuch with a structuralist theory of centre and periphery of language. The analyses, elaborated on the data obtained from the Mannheim German Reference Corpus (DeReKo) and the collocation database (CCDB) developed on the basis of the Corpus, are used for the purpose of the confrontation with the above- mentioned premise of the central or peripheral position of Latin loan words.
Anglicisms in German: Language Change or Language Degradation?

This bachelor thesis named "Anglicisms in German: Language Change or Language Degradation?" is concerned with the current language trend of English loan words in German. The theoretical part of the thesis provides a definition of the basic principles and theories concerning the language change with a special focus on the changes in the field of vocabulary as well as of the concepts of Anglicisms and borrowing. The second part focuses on the critical reflexion of Anglicisms among the German public and on the surveys Wort, Unwort and Jugendwort des Jahres. This chapter is also accompanied by a corpus monitoring the occurrence of Anglicisms in the results of these surveys. The practical part of this thesis is represented by the analysis of the occurrence of English loan words in German press from the synchronic point of view. For this purpose, two sources were chosen, namely the quality press represented by the magazine Die Zeit and a tabloid represented by the daily newspaper Bild. The analysis therefore provides a comparison of the frequency of the use of Anglicisms in the quality press and in a tabloid. The results are accompanied by the semantic categorisation of the expressions found and the description of stylistic and sociocultural tendencies following from their usage.
